Starting with the 2008 Colorado 500 Ride of Champions off-road event,
you are going to see a new trail advocate organization. The Colorado 500 Legal Defense
Fund is being replaced by the newly formed TRAILS PRESERVATION ALLIANCE, (TPA).
The TPA will be a 501c3, charity organization (contributions are tax
deductible), organized to preserve and enhance the multi use trail opportunities in
Colorado. We will put forward a huge effort to increase the working knowledge of trail
use in the area of trail etiquette and how to volunteer to assist in the on-going
efforts to maintain and retain the access to the great single track trails in
Colorado.
Please visit the TPA web site at
www.ColoradoTPA.org. The TPA
mailing address is PO Box 38093, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80937.
The change from the C500 LDF to the new TPA insures that the charity
operation of the C500 will not be impacted by the current TPA related actions needed to
preserve our sport. The TPA will give us much more flexibility in working as a partner
with the USFS and BLM on all OHV related issues. If we do not take a stand to preserve
the trails in Colorado, there will not be anything to ride during the Colorado 500
event.
The TPA and the C500 will continue to work as a team to preserve the
Dallenbach event as well as the sport of motorized trail riding. We urge you to be active
in both the C500 charity and the TPA, donating your time and $$ as you feel inclined and
are capable of supporting. Both causes are critical to trail riding in Colorado.
Get active, donate and protect our sport.
